Hi Wally, can't really connect the dots with this movie, though I'd like to watch it. Anyone who knows this flick, feel free to join conversation and post the name of the movie.

Green technology really is something that should be obligatory with every new home. I guess that day is still quite far... but we'll live to see it (hopefully). I don't have any photos of green log homes (what does that tell about log home people). I should go and get them.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by Wally.

[...] FIRST EDITION It’s the first edition of The Log Home Experience carnival and everything is new and exciting. I’m thinking that once a month rotation could be enough for this topic. Log home industry is large and growing fast, but we who are enthusiastic about log homes and cabins - well - we tend to be there on that older end of human timeline. Now this means that our segment in internet is not flooded with personal blogs and websites, which cover log homes and log cabins. [...]

You can read my answer post to this question at Building classes - Appalachian style. I am not able to provide you with an extensive list of various classes, it's more like a philosophical approach to the question.

They did offer some soup, but it was far from authentic Viking kitchen. Actually I was hoping to get some mead (hey, I'm from Finland), but I didn't see any, not even in pictures, some Viking villa, huh?

I've done my share of camping in wilderness during winter so I take modern amenities anytime over Viking dwellings, but I have to admit building was very rustic and had unique atmosphere.

PS. Tomorrow there are some outside photos on the menu.

Hello Renee. I suspect that lot of this trend has to do with people getting old. The idea of mopping every nook and cranny of a large log home doesn't appeal to modern day log home owner. Empty nesters have no use for those empty bedrooms either. Then we have that cost side, can't avoid paying the bill, huh?

I have looked into In The Woods and I like what I see. Good products, good reputation and most importantly, tremendous respect towards workers and customers. I'd say these are ingredients for success.

You are so right, sir! Since I track trends, we're seeing more folks go with less than 2500 square feet but pouring more $$ into really nice interior outfitting and some nice exterior touches.

BTW, I loved the photos you posted regarding your vacation trip. Massive structures and absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for sharing!

I sure have some outside photos. I'll put them online and post some here. I will let you know when they are ready.

It is really impressive, Vikings used open area fire places to cook inside and heat the building so smoke brought some mystery to the place.

On the ridge there were some shutters, which could be closed if necessary that's how they got rid of the smoke.

During our time of visiting, there was plenty of smoke as they were demonstrating how Vikings used to make food and what kind of tools and ingredients were used.
